Dr. Katie Duarte is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Latin American & Latino/a Studies at Smith College whose research explores gender, race, and identity among Afro-Latinx and Latinx communities. Her current project examines the cultural politics of curly hair and the natural hair movement among Dominicans in New York City and Santo Domingo.
