Stephanie Wambugu — Lonely Crowds at Brattleboro Museum & Art Center

Catwalk Institute proudly shares news from Stephanie Wambugu (Catwalk 2025, Columbia), whose debut novel Lonely Crowds continues its strong reception with a featured discussion at the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center on October 22. The novel follows Ruth and Maria, two women whose intense friendship begins in childhood and eventually carries them into New York's 1990s art world. Lonely Crowds has been named a National Book Foundation 5 Under 35 Honoree, won the Edmund White Award for Debut Fiction, and was a finalist for the Barnes & Noble Discover Prize and NYPL Young Lions Fiction Award. Wambugu will discuss the novel as part of BMAC Reads, moderated by Elizabeth Catlin.
