Cha Ramos (she/ella), a Drama Desk Award–winning fight director, intimacy director, dramaturg, playwright, and performer based in NYC, returns to Catwalk to begin work on sana sanatorio, a new multimedia performance exploring how women are “healed”—and often harmed—by medical systems. With an MFA from Columbia University and a practice grounded in visual poetry and movement, Cha’s work frequently engages themes of gender, sexuality, and violence. She previously drafted her one-woman show at Catwalk three years ago. Now, she draws inspiration from the region’s history of healing institutions as she develops this deeply personal piece following a recent hospitalization.
