Keika Okamoto is a visual artist currently based in New York and Japan who explores poetic expression and ideas of nature through various approaches such as drawing, painting, and installation.
My focus lies at the intersection of what is seen and heard in the physical world and the images perceived through the mind’s eye. This is my second time participating in this residency, and I hope to deepen my nuanced exploration of imagery inspired by my previous experience in the Catskills, as well as by the region’s natural surroundings, history, and tales. Attuned to the forms of nature, I plan to spend my time here drawing, painting, observing, and reflecting.
