Barbar Doran

Barbara Doran founded and runs BD8 Capital Partners, a wealth advisory firm based in New York City (since 2018). She develops market strategy and asset allocation writes quarterly market commentary and appears regularly on CNBC as a guest commentator on the stock markets and investments.

She has spent 35 years on Wall Street in senior roles at major firms, including Neuberger Berman (Research Investment Officer, 2003-2008), YorkBridge Wealth Partners (Senior Portfolio Manager and Director, Investment Committee member, 2016-2018), Lebenthal Asset Management (Senior Portfolio Manager and Investment Committee member, 2015-2016), and Morgan Stanley (Senior Portfolio Manager/Wealth Advisor, 2011-2015). She also founded and managed two firms, including a hedge fund and a marketing company specializing in asset raising and business consulting, and managed proprietary desk capital at Lehman Brothers.

She earned her MBA from Harvard School of Business, and her BA in English from Penn State. Before her MBA, she worked in publishing, as a journalist, and then on the business side. She was also a member of both the United States Women’s National Lacrosse Team and the United States National Field Hockey Team, both for which she has represented the United States in international competition. Barbara is a published writer on sports and investments and remains an active sportswoman, competing in Masters’ Field Hockey events around the world.
